Formal literacy assessments occur at least four times a year. The assessments include DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) and DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment). A DRA level of 16 is expected to be considered on-grade level at the end of first grade. A formal writing sample is also collected four times a year. Math assessments are given at the end of each chapter. Students are expected to know their math facts to 18. Mastery is also expected in identifying, writing and building numbers to 100, identifying coins and counting money.
