Children, teachers and parents are all an important part of the team that ensures that students become successful readers.  Here are some tips to use with your children at home.

*Show your interest in reading by reading in front of your children and encouraging them to read also.

*Spend at least 10-20 minutes each day reading together.  This establishes reading as a habit and shows your child the importance you place on developing reading skills.

*Find a place that is quiet, private and comfortable so that you can enjoy reading together without being distracted.

*Everyone likes praise, so give it often!  Even if your child's reading is not exactly correct, give credit for the effort.

* Keep track of your child's progress in school, and visit Bonfield whenever possible.  This will keep you informed and let your child know that school is important to you.

* Please contact me whenever you have a question!
