September in AP Biology
This month in AP Bio we will look at the following:
- Lab Safety and Lab Practice: Review the basic tenets of lab safety? Investigate how lab experiments designed to test hypotheses.
- Chemistry of Life: Water and its importance to living systems. Chemical elements essential to living systems. The biomolecules of which living systems are comprised and the structure & function of each.
- Cell Structure and Function: What are the various parts of the cell and the function of each. How does cell size affect living systems? What is the structure and function of the plasma membrane within cells. How are materials transported within cells and into & out of cells? This will include labs investigating cell size as well as water potential & osmosis.
In addition, we will begin to use the College Board website to review class content and to use the science practices outlined in the AP course guide.
