So... What exactly is a Learning Facilitator? Quite simply, I am here to help facilitate the learning process. As a Learning Facilitator, my job is to assist in helping to remove the obstacles that inhibit learning.
I partner with teachers and parents to discuss methods we can utilize to improve student performance. Often teachers will ask me to observe a student in the classroom to establish a clearer picture of where meaning may be breaking down for that child. I work with students one on one to help create strong academic habits. I research new ways to assist students when we ascertain that what we have tried has still left the student frustrated. I am never "finished" helping a student until the teachers and parents see improvement in that child's performance.
My focus is upon academic indicators, whereas our school counselor focuses on behavioral indicators. Sometimes academics and behavior cross paths, and our school counselor and I will work collaboratively, along with our school psychologist, Mrs. Conlin, and Principal Lin, to assist the student in finding success at John Beck. What a worthwhile journey! Please contact me any time... my door is always open.
