J R Bonfield Elementary

Meet Mrs. Brubaker

Hello! My name is Lynn Brubaker, and I love teaching 2nd grade at Bonfield Elementary.  The 2024-2025 school year will mark my 13th year of teaching.  I taught extended day kindergarten for one year, then second grade for three years, then first grade for one year, and I've been back in 2nd grade ever since!  Prior to teaching, I worked for many years in the public school system as a Reading Aide and a Paraeducator.  These experiences, along with the support of my co-workers, friends, and family, inspired me to return to college to follow my dream of teaching!  I earned my Bachelor of Science in Education from Millersville University in 2012 and my Masters of Science in Educational Development and Strategies from Wilkes University in 2016. I continue to grow and learn professionally by taking courses through Millersville University and other accredited learning institutions.

My family and I live in Ephrata.  I love to spend time with family and friends, volunteer in community events, and get lost in a good book or movie.  My husband Dale works for the non-profit foundation at Lancaster Archery Supply. Our daughter Madison is a 2017 graduate of the George Washington University in Washington, DC. with an undergrad major in psychology and minor in biology and a masters in public health. She works at Johns Hopkins Graduate School of Public Health out of Baltimore. Our son Ethan graduated from The American University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in political science and minor in law and justice. His love of politics took him to Nevada to work on the finance team of a political campaign then back to DC as a political advertising account executive with Scripps Media.  As a family, we enjoy spending time together laughing, watching movies, and seeing live stage productions. Of course, I must mention that we have two cats in our family, too:  Jon and Stormy.

I love getting to know the students in our classroom!  Second grade will definitely be a year of growth. I am always so proud of all that they learn!  Our classroom is full of smiles as students celebrate their efforts and achievements, as well as those of their classmates!  We will frequently reference our class motto: We can do hard things.

Please feel free to contact me by calling the school (717-626-3704), writing a note, or by e-mailing me at lbrubaker@warwicksd.org.  Don't forget to follow @mrsbrubakersclass on Instagram!  By working together, we can ensure that your child has a super and successful school year!
