Biography

I grew up in Lancaster County though I have traveled to 49 of the 50 states and six other countries!  Now that my three boys are old enough, I enjoy traveling with them and teaching them all about earth science. Our latest trip took us to the Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, Craters of the Moon in Idaho, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota.

In addition to traveling a lot, I like to slow it down with hiking and backpacking.  My longest hike was 300 miles and took us about a month.  I hiked The Long Trail with my dad, traveling through the entire state of Vermont.  We started in Massachusetts and ended in Canada.  That was a great experience.

To speed things up a bit, I love to ski.  In college, I raced slalom and giant slalom competitively.  My kids and husband are also excellent skiers.  I am the Ski and Snowboard Club advisor.  Come join the club!

In high school, I enjoyed technical theatre.  My first major in college was technical theatre.  I also enjoyed volleyball and martial arts.

At Warwick, I teach a variety of classes.  I specialize in earth science, astronomy, meteorology, dynamic earth (geology), and oceanography.  Occasionally, I have been known to teach biology, plant science, and wildlife management, as well as small animals and horses.  Before coming to Warwick, I taught earth science and environmental science in Maryland for two years.  I've been teaching at Warwick since 2009.
