WHS Hosts Free FAFSA Workshop
Free Financial Workshop for Parents of College Bound Students
When: Thursday, February 16
Time: 5:00 p.m. or 5:45 p.m.
Where: Warwick High School, Room C100
The Warwick High School Counseling Department is hosting a free, Financial Aid Workshop on Thursday, February 16, 2012, in the High School Computer Lab (C100) to help parents of college bound students fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Two sessions will be offered, starting at 5:00 p.m. or 5:45 p.m.
Sonya Mann-McFarlane from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) will be facilitating the workshops. Participants will complete the filing process during the workshop. Families will also have the option of submitting an application for the PA State Grant Program at the end of the FAFSA Application.
In order to successfully complete the filing of the FAFSA you will need:
□ Social Security Number (parents and students)
□ Driver's License (students)
□ 2011 W-2 Forms (parents and students)
□ 2011 Federal Income Tax Return (parents and students)
□ 2011 Untaxed Income Records (welfare, veteran benefits, etc.)
□ Current Bank Statements & Records of Stocks, Bonds & Other Investments
□ Records of Other Untaxed Income Receivesd (ex: Social Security)
□ Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
□ Business or Farm Records, if applicable
□ Alien Registration Number, if you are not a U.S. Citizen
If you are a dependent student, you will also need both your parent's Social Security Numbers and your parent's 2011 Income and Financial Records (as listed above). For those families that will not have their 2011 taxes completed by February 16, they can use their previous year tax documents and submit an "estimated" FAFSA.
Students planning to attend college next fall should check the FAFSA deadline for all schools being considered for admissions and ensure that their FAFSA is submitted on time.
