Biography

Michelle Thomson is a first grade teacher at John R. Bonfield Elementary School.  She started out as a classroom assistant in first grade, and also served as a Title 1 Reading Tutor prior to becoming a first grade teacher in 2002.  Michelle piloted the very first Smartboard at the elementary level through a grant from the Warwick Education Foundation, was a PA Keystone Technology Award winner, and also served as a computer technology resource person. In addition to her two master's degrees, she has a PA STEM Endorsement, and has done graduate work in behavior strategies.

Teaching first grade is her passion because the skills that first graders develop are ones that will be used for the rest of their lives. She is always amazed by the growth that occurs in this important year, and feels privileged to be a part of it!

Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband, Dave, and rescue dog, Nessee (from Tennessee).  Her two grown children both went to JRB, graduated from Warwick, and are now married and living in Seattle and Germany.  Michelle's favorite activities include gardening, knitting and crocheting, reading, and watching science fiction.
