Dear Families,
I am excited to welcome you to third grade! Third grade is an important year of growth as students continue building on the skills and confidence developed throughout elementary school. It is a key transition year where students apply their reading, writing, and math skills in new and meaningful ways.
Students become more independent learners in third grade. They read a wider variety of texts, write in greater detail, and strengthen problem-solving skills in math. A major focus is developing a strong understanding of multiplication and division, along with other foundational skills that support future learning. Students are also encouraged to explain their thinking, make connections, and persevere through challenges.
While expectations grow, success is about progress, not perfection. Every child learns at their own pace, and mistakes are an important part of building confidence, resilience, and a growth mindset.
I look forward to getting to know your child and supporting their growth next year.
I am excited to partner with you to make the upcoming school year positive, successful, and memorable.
Sincerely,
Matthew Boyer
