Warwick School District

Spring State Assessment Information

Starting on April 19th 2021, Warwick School District will begin assessing students utilizing the PSSA/Keystone exams.  These end of year assessments are used not only to measure student learning against state standards, but also an opportunity to measure where our students are excelling, and where there is a need for improvement.

With the cancelation of PSSAs and Keystone exams during the pandemic, understanding the strengths and weaknesses of our students has never been more important.  These state normed assessments are an important tool to support all students as we navigate through a post pandemic program.  State assessments will begin with the PSSA exams for all students grade 3-8.  Dates for these exams will be from April 19th through May 5th.

Spring Keystone exams will be administered shortly after. The Keystone exams are more subject specific and measure students’ basic skills in Literature, Algebra and Biology.  Passing these exams are a critical component for graduation beginning with the class of 2023.  The window for these exams will be May 17th - 28th.  Students are identified as eligible for the Keystone exam when they complete an 10th grade English class, an Algebra 1 class, or a Biology class.  All students must take all three Keystone exams before they complete 11th grade.

We encourage all students to get a good night sleep, have a healthy breakfast and to do his or her very best for these assessments.  While the results of these test’s measures are used as tools to evaluate school performance, the most important use of these assessments are how the results can be used to improve student learning.
