Isaac Westlund, a junior at Warwick High School, was recently awarded two Gold Key Scholastics Awards in the Printmaking category for his Monoprint titled, “Self Portrait” and his Drypoint Intaglio print titled, “Eels.”
In addition to both Gold Keys, Isaac's self-portrait received an American Visionary Award in the Lancaster County region. Each regional program nominates five teens for the American Visions Award. These two prints will continue to compete at the National level against teens from all over the US, with results being announced in mid-March.
“When I found out I won two gold keys I was pretty starstruck… it feels good to get acknowledgment for my hard work on these two pieces! Printmaking is a really enjoyable class and Mrs. Hohenadel is an amazing teacher. Without her support, I would have never even considered submitting my art!” - Isaac Westlund, Junior at Warwick High School.
Isaac's artwork will be on display from March 11th-April 23rd along with other Lancaster County teens’ artwork at the Demuth Museum and The Lancaster Museum of Art in Lancaster City so make sure to check it out!
“I’m so excited for Isaac and proud of him for this recognition. He 100% deserves it and I can’t wait to see the artist that he becomes in the future! He is an exceptional young man.” - Mrs. Angie Hohenadel, Warwick High School Art Teacher.
Congratulations, Isaac, and best of luck in the next stages of the competition!
