Students Compete at MadCom State Competition

On May 23rd and 24th, six students from middle school and high school competed in the PA Media and Design Competition (MadCom) at the State level.

The competition was held at Dickinson College and is an annual event that highlights Pennsylvania students’ application skills, creativity, and knowledge. Students are able to unleash their creativity, learn how to convey information more dynamically, and enhance the learning process through Digital Movies, Animation, Programming, Website Design, 3D Design, and Graphic Design Logos. Participants at the state competition include the first-place winners from the regional competition at each of the 29 Intermediate Units in the state of Pennsylvania.

Both Jonathan Olshan (Lead Advisor) and Alina Rakiewicz (Broadcasting/ELA Teacher) accompanied the following students to the competition:

High School Students:

Christa Lowthert (12th Grade)

Payton Gooding (11th Grade)

Middle School Students:

Trey Bergman (8th Grade)

Ian Boltz (8th Grade)

Meiryn Brady (8th Grade)

Mackenzie Lundvall (8th Grade)

Christa and Payton teamed up to compete in the Digital Movie category where they won first place for their short film, “Hunted.” You can check out their video by clicking here.

“Mrs. Rakiewicz and I are immensely proud of Christa and Payton's accomplishments and overjoyed by their success. We commend both of them for actively listening to feedback and diligently revising their work, resulting in a film that surpassed its previous brilliance showcased at the regional competition. The effort and dedication they invested in this competition are truly commendable, and we are delighted to see that it has paid off.” - Mr. Jonathan Olshan, Lead MadCom Advisor and Technology Integration Coach at Warwick School District.
