WHS Presents, ‘The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe’

This year’s Fall Play at the High School is 'The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe'.

Show Synopsis (taken from playbill):

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis follows four siblings—Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie—who are evacuated to the English countryside to escape the bombing of London during World War II. While exploring their new home, Lucy discovers a wardrobe that leads to the magical land of Narnia, where she meets a faun named Mr. Tumnus.

When the other siblings eventually join Lucy in Narnia, they learn that it is under the control of the White Witch, Jadis, who symbolizes all that is evil in the world. Jadis has cast a spell that makes it always winter but never Christmas. Edmund meets the White Witch who introduces herself as the Queen of Narnia. Edmond falls under her spell and is only released through the sacrifice of another.

The siblings find out that they are part of a prophecy that foretells the defeat of the Witch by two Sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve. With the help of Aslan, a great lion who symbolizes goodness, the children unite Narnia's inhabitants to overthrow the Witch. Through bravery, sacrifice, and the bonds of family, they restore peace to Narnia, ushering in an era of joy and prosperity. The story explores themes of redemption, courage, and the battle between good and evil. It ends with the message that good people need good rulers and good rulers need good people.

“This show is a heartwarming show appealing for all ages, young and old.” Tya Wolgemuth, Student Assistant Director.
