Hello! I'm Ms. Brooke Carlock... (Formerly Mrs. Lobaugh, and Mrs. Miller before that!) I love to bake, write, decorate, listen to audiobooks, and explore historical sites on the weekends. I have two sons, Max and Grayson, My beautiful 10 year-old daughter Libby died in a car accident in February 2022.
Along with being a teacher, I'm a professional writer. I run two websites-- GrievingMommy.com, and LiveLikeLibby.org. I have written for many professional websites and magazines, as well.
I love movies! My favorites are Lord of the Rings, Gettysburg, Fools Rush In, The Italian Job, and The Shawshank Redemption. When I have time to watch TV I can usually be found watching something nerdy. My all-time favorites are Poldark, The White Queen, The Tudors, The Expanse, The Witcher, and Game of Thrones.
My all-time favorite book is The Killer Angels, by Michael Shaara. It's about the battle of Gettysburg. I also love to read historical fiction stories focusing on British royalty. I have a deep fascination with Henry VIII and his six wives, Queen Elizabeth I, and pretty much the entire Tudor line of British royalty. My favorite author is Phillipa Gregory.
My favorite thing about 8th grade ELA is reading aloud to my students -- especially The Outsiders.
